In Part 1, I covered general information about Kaaboo, as well as things we wished that we’d known beforehand. In Part 2, I covered our specific Kaaboo experience in 2017. In Part 3 (this part), I’m talking about what we did in our time away from Kaaboo. And in Part 4, I provided my Kaaboo Del Mar packing list (what I took, and what I wished that I’d taken with me).
In addition to the amazing concerts and experiences at Kaaboo Del Mar, we had the opportunity to visit some of the sites around San Diego, and to enjoy some delicious food. Here are some of the other highlights of our trip to the area.
USS Midway
The USS Midway is something that you absolutely should not miss if you’re making a trip to San Diego. It’s hard to understand exactly how large these military ships are until you’re walking around on them. And the amount of history in this museum is incredible. This museum is absolutely worth the price of admission.
La Jolla Cove and Beaches
Since we were on the coast, we of course had to go to the beach. We decided to check out La Jolla Cove and then just walk along the coastline from there. The cliffs in this area are beautiful.
Dining
My favorite restaurant of our visit was to Lena’s in La Jolla. The craft Mexican food was delicious, and the second floor outdoor patio overlooking the water could not be beat.
We also ate at the Cheesecake Factory in San Diego one day. I love this restaurant, and considering that there isn’t one anywhere close to me, I always try to eat at the Cheesecake Factory whenever I’m near one.
For Next Time
We heard about a bar on the 40th floor of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego that we would have loved to have visited for a drink. We couldn’t visit because they weren’t open during the daytime hours that we had available, but perhaps next time we’ll have some time available to visit Top of the Hyatt.
