This is the nineteenth installment in my weekly series, called the Friday Five. In this series, I’ll tell you about five random things that I love, whether they be books, travel, music, movies…or whatever. So without further ado, 10-21-2016’s Friday Five!
–TeamMates. I volunteer with the TeamMates mentoring program, both on the board and as a mentor to a 7th grader. The program set up (meetings at the school, no contact outside of school; the combination of planned activities and free time, etc.) is ideal; the time commitment (1 hour per week) is reasonable; and lots of training/guidance/support is provided. I recommend that everyone check it out and see a program is available in your community.
–Hallelujah. I loved the Leonard Cohen lyrics for this song, but I also love this version with new lyrics. I hope you’ll check it out, and that you enjoy it as well.
–Samantha Brown on Haunted Hotels. Did anyone else watch Samantha Brown’s shows on the Travel Channel incessantly, or am I the only one?! Samantha rounds up the most haunted hotels in America on her blog, and it’s an interesting read. I’ve driven past The Stanley, but never been inside. Now I kind of want to visit all of them!
–Nothing Else Matters by Lissie. Mike turned me on to this cover of a Metallica song. Apparently it’s used in a video game trailer. But it’s beautiful, and I love it.
–The Faces of Fear. This album with pictures of people going through a haunted house popped up on my Facebook news feed, and I made the mistake of scrolling through the pictures while waiting for in court for one of my cases to be called. I finally had to save it for later, because I was afraid I’d start laughing out loud. It seems appropriate to share it with you all at this time of year, in case you too need a laugh.
