In previous years, I have done a number of organized reading challenges (PopSugar, Modern Mrs. Darcy, Unread Shelf Project), as well as created my own reading challenges, and also read with total freedom. I started doing reading challenges after feeling a bit lost with what to read next at times, and also feeling like I wasn’t always choosing the best books. I am glad that I participated in and created some of my own reading challenges, as looking back, the caliber of books that I read has improved. But in recent months, I’ve felt a bit constrained by it. And I’ve also noticed that I have started several book series, but not finished them because they didn’t fit the category of a reading challenge. And feeling constrained by a reading challenge feels a little silly.
So for 2022, I’m going to do things a little differently than in recent years. For the first 6 months, I’m going to read what I want to, with an emphasis on finishing some book series (or at least making progress toward finishing them). And because sometimes yearlong reading challenges get a little tedious, I’ll be reevaluating in July, to see if there’s anything that I’d like to do differently for the second half of the year.
So there you have it. My not-much-of-a-plan reading plan for 2022.
What are you planning on reading in the coming year? How do you organize your reading plans? Or are you a mood reader?
